When I work with a mama-to-be I empower her with information. I offer as much impartial information as I can, direct her to credible resources and answer any questions she may have. Then, empowered with information, we sit down and write a birth preference plan to reflect the informed choices she has made relating to her body, her birth and her baby.
Now...you know what they say about the best laid plans! The one thing I can tell you with great certainly is that the birth process is predictably unpredictable. It is rare that a birth goes completely as planned. So, during the birthing process a woman may be called upon to make decisions about medical interventions or procedures.
Here are 4 Things to Remember...
#1 All decisions relating to your body, your birth and your baby are your choice.
#2 Your care provider cannot legally do anything to you or your baby without prior informed consent.
#3 You have the right to decline any and all medical interventions or procedures.
#4 Use Your BRAIN! BRAIN is an acronym for the following questions that should be asked before giving consent or declining medical procedures:
Your Body. Your Birth. Your Baby. Your Choice. Use your BRAIN.
From my Heart to Yours🙏
